The short film was created in part to learn the Virtual Production workflow. As a collaboration between different streams at AIE, it encompassed the Film, Game and VFX trainers and students.
The story was written by Ashlee Page and Nicky Thanou. It is set in the future after a major disaster and is a intimate story about survival in a post flooded world.
The world was built by Thomas Magill, Mike Gordon and Emma McIntosh, assets created by Emma, Flynn Eickhoff, Ben Rushby and Scott Bruno.

Unreal Engine 5 Physics sim.
The falling shot was decided early on in production. I was originaly going to create the effect in Houdini, however I thought it would be more efficient to work in UE.
I used the meta-human to create shadows in the water.
Quick POV shot. Ash, the director, decided we needed to create a sense of danger.
Camera shake in Unreal.
Birds. The production was created on a virtual sound stage using the LED technology seen by ILM for the Mandolorian series. Ash wanted birds to make it feel like it was shot outdoors.
Some other shots that were needed to create the world.
Early in the edit Emma noticed the water didn't look like it was soaking into the ground. The set had vinyl flooring, so I fixed the two shots.
